There has been considerable confusion over the name William Lane Morford. The eldest being Garret's brother and other subject of this reasearch. The confusion arises because Garret has this son named William Lane. Garret's brother William Lane also had a son, named William Lane Morford, who could be considered a Jr. or II, so there are actually three descendants all with the exact same name.
Speculation is that there is some significance to the middle name "Lane" due to the relationship the two subjects' father Joseph Morford, from New Jersey, had with a friend or family with that surname.
